Twice yearly, we invite high-potential personalized health technology entrepreneurs to participate in our education program. The program is designed to provide entrepreneurs with a comprehensive set of skills required to execute the commercialization and growth of personalized healthcare technology companies. While we provide this program for free, our hope is that it will not only help drive the expansion of our innovation ecosystem, but also provide IPHA with the ability to get to know the participants better and qualify them for investment. We anticipate that many of the investments IPHA makes will be in companies that complete this program.
The program occurs in the Spring and the Fall and is scheduled for seven, 90 minute sessions that are held in the accelerator in Fairfax, Virginia. All sessions will occur between noon and 1:30 pm and lunch will be provided.
The schedule for the Spring 2018 program is as follows:
March 14, 2018 – Expectation Setting
Session describes the company’s growth cycle (inception to exit at target valuation), including strategic focus, valuation, size of team and capital required to achieve success. The intention is to imbue the entrepreneur with a vision for growing a company to exit that will look familiar and attractive to investors.
March 28, 2018 – Developing a Customer Presentation
Session guides entrepreneurs to build an 8-10 page customer presentation to articulate their unique value proposition to customers.
April 11, 2018 – FDA Primer
Session provides a primer on the FDA and its impact on the demand for the new innovation. Session suggests strategies for mitigating FDA risk and driving the biggest bang for the buck from the FDA process.
April 25, 2018 – Medical Reimbursement and Impact on Strategy
Session introduces the concept of medical policy and its impact to the likelihood of payor reimbursement for the entrepreneur’s product or service. The session will introduce strategies to manage this risk.
May 9, 2018 – Elements of a Strong Investor Presentation
Session introduces the required elements of a typical venture/seed investor presentation.
May 23, 2018 – Building a Financial Model
Seminar teaches the entrepreneur how to model revenue through target growth stages. The includes modeling human capital and other infrastructure requirements to support target growth. Additionally, the entrepreneur will learn to model cash flow requirements to sustain the organization through each stage of growth.
June 6, 2018 – Building a Strong Board of Directors or Advisory Board
Seminar helps develop a plan to attract advisors and directors to augment knowledge, capabilities, relationships and credibility.
