Twice yearly, we invite high-potential personalized health technology entrepreneurs to participate in our education program. The program is designed to provide entrepreneurs with a comprehensive set of skills required to execute the commercialization and growth of personalized healthcare technology companies. While we provide this program for free, our hope is that it will not only help drive the expansion of our innovation ecosystem, but also provide IPHA with the ability to get to know the participants better and qualify them for investment. We anticipate that many of the investments IPHA makes will be in companies that complete this program.
The program occurs in the Spring and the Fall and is scheduled for seven, 90 minute sessions that are held in the accelerator in Fairfax, Virginia. All sessions will occur between noon and 1:30 pm and lunch will be provided. The schedule for the Fall 2017 program is as follows:
October 4, 2017 – Expectation Setting
Session describes the evolution of a company throughout its growth cycle (from inception to exit at target valuation), including strategic focus, valuation, size of team and capital required to achieve success. The intention is to imbue entrepreneurs at the beginning of the program with a vision for success that will resonate with investors.
October 19, 2017 – Messaging Your Value Proposition
Session is designed to ensure entrepreneurs understand what problem the innovation is solving and who benefits from that solution. Session requires entrepreneurs to encapsulate “why” what they are doing is valuable in less than 30 seconds. The resulting message is intended to efficiently seize a customer’s attention.
November 1, 2017 – Introduction to Product Management (Defining a MVP that makes sense)
Session guides entrepreneurs to identify stakeholder profiles that represent product users, product buyers, and other influencers that may benefit from the product. Entrepreneurs will understand how to define the set of capabilities required to meet minimum requirements of target personas.
November 14, 2017 – Market Analysis (Sizing and competitive analysis)
Session guides entrepreneurs in the performance of market-sizing analyses and competitive analyses, providing evidence of large addressable target market opportunities that are attractive for market entry.
November 29, 2017 – IP Protection
Session introduces strategies for protecting intellectual property that underpins an innovation.
December 13, 2017 – Building an Investor Presentation
Session introduces elements of a typical venture presentation to succinctly communicate a compelling investor value proposition.
January 10, 2018- Primer for Venture Term Sheets
Session walks entrepreneurs through typical terms that founders are likely to encounter in a venture term sheet, including identification of terms the market is typically supporting and what may be an investor overreach.
