Inova Launches Strategic Healthcare Investment Initiative to Enhance Patient Care, Better Predict and Prevent Disease, Lower Costs, and Improve Health Outcomes
Strategic initiative includes Inova Personalized Health Accelerator
FALLS CHURCH, VA – Inova Health System announced today the launch of Inova Strategic Investments and Inova Personalized Health Accelerator, a system-wide initiative to improve patient care, predict and prevent disease, lower costs, and improve health outcomes. The investment initiative will help Inova lead the way in adapting to an industry undergoing dramatic and disruptive transformation, while at the same time, raising the standard for affordable, high quality healthcare in our region. It will do so by investing in the most promising advances in healthcare and getting them into the point of care quickly.
Inova Strategic Investments (ISI) will invest in health and related technology venture funds. It will also invest directly in companies aligned with Inova’s priorities, including advanced analytics, innovations in safety, quality, and clinical practices and advances in information technology. Inova Personalized Health Accelerator (IPHA) will select six to eight companies per year and provide education, start-up capital and access to Inova personnel and resources. These companies will work closely with Inova to drive the development of personalized health innovations to predict, prevent and treat disease. The IPHA facility will be located at Inova Center for Personalized Health. Hooks Johnston and Pete Jobse have been named managing directors, responsible for leading the ISI initiative and the IPHA.
“The healthcare industry is undergoing dramatic transformation, including advances and disruption in clinical practice and precision medicine, the increased availability of health data online and growing consumer engagement in personal wellness,” said Knox Singleton, CEO, Inova Health System. “These changes provide new opportunities and a real imperative for Inova to facilitate development and adoption of the next generation of innovations that will improve the way we deliver care.”
“Our goal is to seek out the latest technologies and get them quickly into the point of care at all of our facilities,” said Hooks Johnston. “Inova Strategic Investments and the Inova Personalized Health Accelerator give Inova vehicles to discern which innovations deliver the most value for the people we serve and implement them quickly.”
